The Last Five Years

Date: Wednesday, Nov 21 2018 - Friday, Nov 23 2018
Venue: The Station

Award-winning Bristol theatre company The Worx Productions presents Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown’s intimate musical about the course of a relationship, seen as it moves both forwards and backwards through time.

Starring local performers (and married couple) Michael and Emma Griffiths, The Last Five Years tells the powerful story of author Jamie and aspiring actress Cathy. The pair meet and quickly fall in love, but after Jamie becomes an overnight success their relationship is tested to breaking point. Can a couple once united by their dreams stay connected as their paths begin to divide?

Known for its unique structure, The Last Five Years sees their stories told in opposite directions, Jamie moving forwards and Cathy backwards through their relationship, meeting only briefly for a moment in time as their stories cross. The audience is left to decide who is to blame for the break-up, a question which has spawned multiple internet debates since its creation.
