Shadows Over Improv: Improvised Lovecraftian Theatre

Date: Friday, Apr 13 2018
Time: 8:00pm
Venue: Arnos Vale Cemetery
Artists
Degrees of Error, Closer Each Day, The Unnamed Improv

“Join us for a fully improvised tale of cosmic horror at Arnos Vale Cemetery on, of course, Friday the 13th. Inspired by cult author HP Lovecraft, we spontaneously craft dread and darkness from an audience suggestion. We shall take you with us on our journey into the unknown – where souls perish, the ancestors have disturbing secrets, and the Gods are plentiful and full of vengeance.

“Do not miss this one-off show at the Cemetery, your life may well one day depend on it…”

The Unnamed Improv have been performing this show since 2014 and have taken it to the London Horror Festival, Improfest UK as well as numerous Bristol locations. This is the first time they have performed in a non-theatre setting, but a cemetery seemed like the ideal place to start.

“The group includes some of the most experienced improvisers in Bristol with performers from Closer Each Day and Degrees of Error. The one thing they all share is a love of the Lovecraft mythos – that universe of ancient races and faceless gods that has inspired horror greats like Stephen King, John Carpenter and HR Giger. This show translates the atmosphere and tension of Lovecraft’s stories to a form that is more theatrical.”

Friday 13, 8-9.30pm, The Anglican Chapel, Arnos Vale Cemetery, £10.
