Road
North Bristol’s excellent Kelvin Players (who this year celebrate 90 years since their first production) delve into their back catalogue with this production of a play they first produced 20 years ago.
Set in the late 80s, Jim Cartwright’s Road explores the lives of the people in a deprived, working-class area of Lancashire during the government of Margaret Thatcher, a time of high unemployment in the north of England.
The play was considered extremely effective in portraying the desperation of people’s lives at this time, as well as containing a great deal of humour.
