Australian artist Cigdem Aydemir collaborates with the public to create The Ride (UK premiere, Arnolfini) an incisive political act out of the simple, playful sharing of a motorcycle ride.

New York based Erin Markey’s powerful show Singlet (UK premiere, Arnolfini) is built from a wrestling match between two friends fighting for connection and the bonds of friendship.

Dorothée Munyaneza’s Unwanted (UK premiere, Circomedia) focuses on the stories of the women caught up in the Rwandan genocide specifically those who suffered rape, an act of domination and suppression, still used as a weapon of destruction in war zones today. Now based in France, Dorothée Munyaneza was 12 when, after miraculously surviving genocide, she fled her home in Rwanda.

Kameelah Janan Rasheed’s How To Suffer Politely (And Other Etiquette) is a series of billboards across Bristol that scrutinize the history of oppression towards the Black community in the United States.

Conversations is a programme of keynotes, round tables, think tanks, workshops and calls to action, that challenges who gets to speak and who gets to listen. Friday 11 asks Whose Voices Are We Hearing? and looks at representation and leadership in the arts sector. Saturday 12 explores The Role of Art in the Making of A Better Future. Looking at art, civic engagement and public space. Sunday 13 shares food, provocations, reflection and tactics for moving forward. Running throughout will be the urgent call for action against climate change.

Oct 11-13, venues incuding Arnolfini, We the Curious and Arts Mansion (Ashton Court). For more info, visit www.inbetweentime.co.uk/our-work/the-summit
