Side by Side by Sondheim

Date: Monday, Aug 14 2017 - Saturday, Aug 19 2017
Venue: Hippodrome
Price: £20

Stephen Sondheim’s musical revue comes to Bristol for the first time in over 25 years with a five-night run at the Hippodrome’s Piano Bar.

Sondheim is best known for composing musicals such as Into The WoodsSweeney Todd, Company, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Follies and many others. He also wrote the lyrics for West Side Story and Gypsy and has been heralded as ‘the greatest lyricist ever’.

Audiences can expect a show that captures every human emotion from love to betrayal, marriage to infidelity, success and failure. The Piano Bar will be styled as an off-Broadway speak easy, with vintage theatre props and lighting designs, plus two baby grand pianos and talented cast of five professional actors.

Side By Side… is produced by Bristol-based Pandemonium Productions, established last year to bring high-quality productions of classic and left-of-centre musical theatre to Bristol. Producer Angus Blance has extensive experience performing in the West End and regional productions, before moving onto producing plays, revues, musicals and a successful charity cabaret series.
