Butterfly

Date: Tuesday, Mar 5 2019 - Thursday, Mar 7 2019
Venue: The Loco Klub

New play about “a band
of queer misfits who said ‘no’ when the world threatened to push their voices deeper underground”.

The play explores the butterfly effect through the lens of LGBT liberation, highlighting how even the smallest acts of defiance, which are often forgotten, can radiate out prompting positive change and bringing communities of people together.

“From a drag queen fighting in World War I to the radical lesbian ‘menaces’ of the 70s, these stories establish a sense of community from across time.

“The stories range from loud-and-proud activism to individual acts of defiance, told boldly through monologue, dance and music. From suppression to liberation, anger to joy, the tragic to the comic, Butterfly is a cacophony of passion, love and rebellion.”
