Crooked Theatre present this new play by Joseph Kelly, drawing on the recent sexual assault allegations and the #MeToo phenomenon.
Wolf is a blackly comic one-woman horror play charting a student’s grotesque transformation into a wild animal. We meet Maisie in the realms of a seedy nightclub, necking vodka mixers on the dance floor having been ditched by her friends and left with a broken phone.
Throughout the night she is groped, stalked and belittled by the club’s chauvinistic inhabitants. Too anxious to stay and too frightened to leave, we experience Maisie’s “wank stain” of a night from her witty and sardonic perspective.
is needed now More than ever
But as the evening plays out, the bleeding wound on Maisie’s hand begins to show side effects, bringing on hallucinations, physical anguish and an untameable rage she didn’t know existed.
As both Maisie’s body and mind begin to transform, she finds her new found powers simultaneously horrific and enticing.
Wolf is a darkly comic tale of an empowered woman, fighting back against the most hideous manifestations of misogyny.
