The Fabularium Fairytale Festival
A feast of fairy tales for grown-ups and myths for kids.
Story experts bring nomadic people’s palace of fairytale home to the heart of Bristol.
Leading storytelling promoter The Crick Crack Club host Bristol’s first summer pop-up fairytale festival. The Fabularium – a beautiful 100-seat tent, with lights twinkling and flags flying – hosts four days of shows by the best of the best of the UK’s storytellers – including Ben Haggarty, Daniel Morden, Jan Blake, Nell Phoenix, and TUUP.
is needed now More than ever
During the day, the Fabularium will be dedicated to family shows – as much fun for the adults as for the children they bring – about everything from quick-witted youths to magic monkeys to slobbering giants. But as the sky darkens, so will the stories. Evening shows for grown ups will be a ruder, more epic and more outrageous offering; dark fairytales from France, epic goddesses from India, x-rated folk tales from around the world, and more. Between shows, Bristol based company Play Wooden have games to delight and entertain, available to play free of charge to all comers.
Aug 29-Sept 1, College Green, shows from 11am (Thur 7.30pm). Adult shows (age guidance on website) £7.50-9, family shows £4/£10 family of 3 / £12 family of 4. For more info, visit crickcrackclub.com/fabularium
