Park One – cafe review
Even its most ardent fans would probably admit that there really isn’t that much going on in Stapleton. It’s got Colston’s School, Holy Trinity church and the Masons Arms pub. That’s about it. And that’s part of the village’s unique charm.
The arrival of Park One cafe on Park Road at the top of Bell Hill in the shadow of the church spire has now added something extra to village life.
Opening in what used to be a mobile phone shop, Park One has seating for some 20 people inside and a dozen more on the terrace outside that was previously the shop’s car park.
is needed now More than ever
A sausage sandwich (£4) with meat from The Jolly Hog was just the start needed on a recent morning, washed down with a flat white with coffee from Hengrove’s Roasted Rituals.
Other breakfast options from the small kitchen includes scrambled or poached egg on toast, with extras of a roast Portabello mushroom, spinach and hollandaise sauce.
For lunch is a selection of sandwiches all made fresh on the premises, including chicken, bacon and avocado (£5.50), chorizo, olive and cheese (£5.50), and tuna and sweetcorn (£5.25).
There is also an all-day kids menu with classics such as beans on toast, pasta in tomato sauce, and crunchy carrot and cucumber sticks with a hummus dip.
Children are also well catered for with toys, books and colouring – with another splash of colour nearby from a framed navy blue and orange striped rugby top of Old Colstonians – who play a few hundred yards down the road.
Park One had added a new dimension to Stapleton village.
