What’s on at Bristol Food Connections 2015
Bristol Food Connections festival has unveiled their full programme of more than 100 events taking place city-wide from May 1-9.
The festival kicks off from the May bank holiday weekend, when Food Connections will take over the city centre with Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, a producers market on College Green, a harbourside market, a street food market in Millennium Square and the Thatchers cider trail.
Food Connections presents some exciting opportunities for local producers, not least is the new food frontiers event which offers new food producers from across the South West the opportunity to win £100,000 package of packaging design and business consultancy and a contract with First Great Western.
The festival’s partnership with the BBC continues this year, with 11 free-entry sessions taking place in the Imax theatre at Bristol Aquarium and a lineup of celebrity chefs and food personalities due to make an appearance across the festival, including Rick Stein, Adrian Chiles, Mike Dilger and Celebrity MasterChef winner, Lisa Faulkner.
BBC radio and television shows will also be broadcasting live from the festival, as well as recording some programmes to be broadcast on national BBC networks.
“These events are only the tip of the iceberg,” said festival director Lorna Knapman. “There are over 100 events, all over the city, and each one is completely unique. Food Connections has a serious message: we must think about the future and how we’re going to feed our ever – growing population in a way that won’t destroy the planet.
“But good food should be fun and it should be accessible to all. It should bring people together. Our programme of events is designed to provoke thought in a fun, engaging and meaningful way.”
