Mayor Election 2016 / News

Ukip porn actor could run for mayor

By Louis Emanuel  Wednesday Aug 5, 2015

The former vice chairman of Bristol Ukip who was suspended by the party for an adult film made in Castle Park has launched his own political party.

John Langley, better known as Johnny Rockard, says he will consider running for mayor if his Brigstow Assembly gets enough support in time for next year’s election.

The part-time adult entertainment actor and agent says his party will fight for a “more inclusive” democracy at a local level in the light of devolution.

Langley, 49, told Bristol24/7 that the party had no policies yet, but he wanted its members to formulate ideas in a democratic way.

He added that if the group gets enough support, he would consider running as mayor. “It’s a long way off and we’re only at the start, but it is something that would be considered if the party gets off the ground,” he said.

John Langley stood for Ukip in Stockwood at the local elections

In a statement released at the launch of the party, he added: ”In my view, meaningful public involvement falls short on inclusivity and is therefore undemocratic because the wider Bristol resident community are completely overlooked when it comes to the really important issue of what is, after all, public money being invested into City Hall.”

He said residents were fed up of paying money in taxes and not having a proper say in how the money is spent.

In a call for members to sign up and get involved with the party he said: “My objective is to challenge your thinking and take you out of the political comfort zone which you are familiar with by offering you the opportunity to be creative in visualising outside of the box, and get your head around the golden opportunity which devolution offers us here in Bristol.”

Langley was suspended by the Bristol branch of Ukip over an oral sex porn film shot with his partner in the day time in Castle Park. He later claimed to have been sacked, but finally said he had resigned.
